"Brooklyn-based Breaking Laces is the brainchild of Willem Hartong, whose knack for writing solid songs should carry him far beyond the limits of the Big Apple. There are twelve acoustic-based rock songs here, some a little more rocking than others, and not a weak one in the bunch. This record feels like the stripped-down, budget effort that ends up going for big money on eBay a couple of years down the road when someone with a ton of money gets wind of someone like this. This is easily the best singer-songwriter type of recording I've had the chance to write about in a long, long time. The niche Breaking Laces fills is as wide as the entire music market right now, and if there is such a thing as justice in this world, you will hear their name from more places than just me very, very soon."
