Description
The Burrmans present a new single, Lost Lonely Cowboy, as a benefit raiser for the Oregon National Guard troops being lost in Iraq.
When we think of the National Guard we typically think of those people that help in the times of floods and hurricanes and other similar situations. While we know that joining the National Guard potentially allows for ultimate sacrifice overseas, and that its members have done so in previous wars, many of us first think of that level of commitment and risk as associated with the regular military forces. This is not meant in anyway as a slight to the human toll suffered by our regular forces, and we are open to extending the benefit focus if response warrants it, it's just that losing National Guard troops to this type of conflict feels a little different mentally and emotionally.
While there are many raging political sentiments surrounding our involvement in Iraq, we want to remove all of the politics from this effort. This is not a political statement. It is about giving back to some of Oregon's own that have paid the ultimate price for all of us.
