Description
This is Scott Wilson's first Belly Dance Jazz CD. it is a tribute to his oud teacher, the famous Charles "Chick" Ganimian, who performed many of these songs in the 1950's.
Inventor of the "Baglama Hydra", a triple neck oud, saz, and bouzoukie, Scott Wilson has devoted his life to the performance of MId-East music.
This album is a collection of his favorites from Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Armenia, and Israel, sung with English lyrics!
Scott and his Group can be heard every Sunday night at "Cafe Figaro" in NYC's, West Village.
Besides one hour of music, there is an interactive movie ( for Mac or PC) of the group performing live at "Cafe Figaro" on Bleecker and McDougal Sts., in NYC.
This album is a must for any one who loves Mid- East music or dance with a jazz twist!
The Musicians include - Scott Wilson- oud & vocals, Souren Baronian- clarinet & def, Umut Yasmut- kanun, Mal Stein- dumbek & percussion, Paul Brown- bass, Maurice Sedacca- guitar, and "Eleni" (Scotts wife) - vocals and tambourine.
