Description
Jazz organist Dan Fogel, whose stylistic and improvisatioal
skills on the Hammond B-3 have established his reputation as a master musician. An Atlantic City area native, he has been rated as one of the top 5 jazz organists in the world, and has performed with such legendary "Kentucky Avenue Greats" as Jimmy Smith, Don Patterson, Billy James, Pat Martino, Sonny Murray, and Harvey Mason.
In a departure from his usual form, Fogel is playing the acoustic piano. The reflective but powerful piano compositions on this CD, are markedly different in style form Fogel's earlier works. This impromptu recording relies less on Fogel's traditional jazz and be-bop backround and more on his strong classical roots. From the Latin-flavored,Ravelesque "Gypsy" to the meditative, graceful title track, 'Oracle', this CD showcases the work of an intriguing musician exhibiting a very personal but
powerfully introspective side of himself.
Dan's versatility and originality takes you (the listener)
on an impromtu and improvisational journey you will never forget.
