Description
K.C. Clifford is a singer/songwriter who combines a modern folk sound with intricate lyrics. Her songs are deeply personal; their content is universal in appeal. Stories and character sketches are woven throughout-some heartbreaking, some provocative, all of them familiar. K.C. is unafraid to take life apart, examine it, and learn from it.
An Oklahoma City native, K.C. lived in Nashville for 5 years, where she finished her degree in Commercial Vocal Performance at Belmont University. While completing school, K.C. also worked as a studio singer, recording demos for some of Nashville's finest writers, including Grammy award-winning songwriter, Don Schlitz.
These days, K.C. pursues her music full time, performing live in a number of venues throughout the U.S. A member of ASCAP, her performance of her song, "Call Me Baby," was featured in a CD compilation of Canada's North by Northeast Festival in the summer of 1999. In June of 2000, K.C. was extended an invitation to play her songs alongside Willie Nelson and friends at Willie's Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament in Austin. Her debut album, "Times Like These," was released in July 2000. In just 5 months, she sold over 1,000 copies at her shows.
K.C.'s music is getting regular airplay on radio stations in Austin and in Oklahoma City. In May of 2001, Oklahoma City's 91FM released her song "Worth More than a Glance" in a contest based on listener response. The outcome was an overwhelming success; day after day K.C. returned as champion for 2 weeks running. Since then, K.C. has been climbing the station's Top 20 most requested songs list, and she shows no signs of stopping.
In June of 2001, Songwriters' Circle Magazine published a feature article on K.C. and her involvement in the Kerrville Folk Festival's Songwriters School. The interview also included winning remarks made by Sara Hickman, who served on the school's faculty. In the same issue, the magazine staff voted K.C. #1 on the Top Ten Kerrville Songwriter Performances List.
