Description
There comes in most of our lives when we start breaking up at the seams and reforming into middle age, simply accepting all we are. Others, however, decide to release an album of music.
Songwriter Nic Paton is one of these, and he has sensibly jumped into the world with his first full-scale production , "The Middle of it All."
Says Nic: "All the pressures of survival, parenthood, the new cold war, homeownership, aging, technological meltdown and spiritual crisis somehow conspired to push out a body of work."
Less than a month after September 11th 2001, he had sat bolted to a desk belonging to the world's largest bank, when suddenly a voice last heard almost a decade earlier whispered in his ear.
He explains: "I put a trace on the stream of ideas and committed them to words. I knew almost immediately - this was the Muse. The second coming of something I had considered gone. This, for me, was the rebirth of song".
For Nic this has clearly been an invigorating experience: "Its now 3 1/2 years later; and I'm ready. I've spent a lifetime criticising myself, finding reasons to abort, excuse or cancel. But now, I like what I have done. So however imperfect, here it is".
