Description
Tomaca Govan is a dynamic, energetic performer who really gets the crowd into what she's doing. Influenced by the greats, Aretha, Chaka and Ella, everywhere she goes people speak of her "amazing voice." Though this gifted voice enables her to easily sing a wide variety of styles from Jazz to R&B to Gospel to Classical and Opera, she focuses on the Smooth Jazz and R&B genre.
After working with a number of bands, Tomaca felt right about stepping out as a solo artist. She released her first CD, "Can't Replace A Hug," in January 2005 and is already back in the studio working on the next project.
She was a featured artist on WEIB 106.3 fm in January. She opened for Kool & The Gang and Marion Meadows. Tomaca also worked with renowned bassist, Taddy P. (from Maxi Priest) and wrote songs that were recorded by Johnny Gill and Stacy Lattisaw.
Tomaca will be performing in Montego Bay, Jamaica in August 2005. Details for this performance and all other performances will be announced on her website: www.TGovan.com. Also, look for the cd release that comes from this trip! Tomaca will be working and recording with Taddy P. on new music while she is there.
