Ray Korona Band - The People Are In Charge!
*new songs for social justice*
*a musical tradition continues*
When Pete Seeger performed his 80th birthday concert in NYC recalling his life in the music of struggle, the Ray Korona Band played every song with him and some of Ray's new topical songs as well. When Nora Guthrie hosted a celebration of 65 years of her father's song, "This Land Is Your Land," the Band played Woody's songs and Ray's new songs now on this CD.
Greedy globalizers, war mongrels, executioners, tree clear-cutters, homophobic boy scout officials, union busters, political profiteers and double-talkers, BEWARE! These songs will run right over you (and maybe even take you through some changes). And, as always, you'll find humor, singable choruses and some love songs, too, on the band's fifth nationally released CD.
The band features Barry Kornhauser, Ivice, Ellen Davidson, Sharon Abreu & Ray with warm vocal harmonies, diverse musical instruments (fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, guitar, flute, clarinet, bass, percussion, drums, piano, etc.) and even an a cappella tune. In the words of one reviewer, "This CD's 12 songs explore current and perennial issues with passion, humor and catchy music!"
