Roberta Thomas, a native Chicagoan, began her singing career at a very young age as a member of the Thomas Family Singers where she astounded audiences with electrifying spirit-filled vocals. Roberta honed and fine-tuned her talents singing alongside many of the gospel world's most renown artists. Her unique talents blossomed as she toured and concertized throughout the United States and Europe as a featured soloist with internationally acclaimed groups including The Gospel Supremes, Committed, and the Sue Conway Victory Singers. Dedicated to spreading the gospel in song throughout the world, Roberta Thomas has taken her singing ministry to such diverse places as Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sicily, Germany and Switzerland.
Roberta's unlimited wealth of knowledge of the gospel genre, as well as her adept ability in recognizing and reproducing all the subtle nuances that differentiate the numerous gospel styles are well-known within the gospel recording industry. As background singer, vocal arranger, and featured guest artist, Roberta can be heard on dozens of recordings including CGI Records' "Tribute to the Caravans", The James Cleveland Tribute", the legendary Dannibelle Hall, the Grammy award-winning Fellowship M.B. As you can well imagine, Roberta Thomas' talents are not only limited to her extraordinary singing ability as a gospel artist... She regularly performs as Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan for the Chicago Blues Brothers Show and Big Fun Revue and is a favorite amongst the top wedding ensembles in the region. A phenomenal theatrical actress, Ms. Thomas has won critical acclaim as a leading lady in national touring company productions of Broadway and off-Broadway plays including The Goodmen's production of The Amen Corner, Dreamgirls, where her portrayal of "Effie" garnered nightly standing ovations, "Ginny" in Tap Dance Kid, and "Ismane" in Gospel at Colonus, "Sister Dabney" in Look What A Wonder, "Grandma" in Someone You Can Trust....
