The recordings feature Symons' eclectic style and approach with modern music hits utilizing all the tools known within the genre. All of the music on the recordings were arranged, sequenced with a Yamaha QY20 sequencer then performed and produced by Symons.
Symons also entertains internationally at events for Tourism, Corporate Businesses, Private Audiences, Prestigious Cruise Lines, and at The Bermuda International Airport U.S. Departure Area. He has toured The United states, Canada, South America, The Caribbean, Mexico, The South Pacific, Hawaii and Scotland. Robert represented Bermuda as a Guest Steel Pan Soloist in the 2003 Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland to capacity audiences of 1/4 million. BBC TV broadcast the event to a viewing audience of 100 million across the world. His resume is full of accomplishments such as this, thereby giving his music the same worldly outlook and sound.
The story of Robert Symons is interesting and moving. While both his mother and grandmother played piano, it was not until his grandmother gave him a guitar for Christmas at age nine that Mr. Symons' own interest in music began. In what was to become a lifetime pattern of diligence and dedication, the boy set about teaching himself the instrument. The more he tried the more he progressed and the better he became. "It was just something that felt natural to me, so I picked away and it just took," he says.
This process became the norm for Symons when he decided to play bass, learn the steel drums and while working in the orchestra of the Actors Conservatory Theatre. While in New York performing all over Westchester County in such productions as Godspell and Guys and Dolls he adopted his courageous learn-as-you-go style by studying the music he was going to play diligently at the public library the night before a show.
Robert's story and music are truly an inspiration to anyone that has dreams and goals they are pursuing. Asked what advice he would give to aspiring young musicians, he says: "Find your own base. When you can say, 'I know', people pick up on that. When you play with conviction people pick up on that. Don't let anybody push you around or take advantage of you. You learn that as you go along. It's not for anybody else, it's for you. Don't give up."
