Description
This CD represents an important step for the Taylor Harvey Band. With a re-vamped rhythm section sounding better than ever and the songwriting reaching higher ground, the band is poised to make some great progress.
Again we hear the trademark guitars, ranging from Taylor's acoustic 6 & 12 string rhythms to the soaring, anthemic leads ably supplied by sideman extraordinaire Tim Edwards. Edwards admittedly does some of his best work to date on this CD, culminating in the Layla-esque "3 a.m."
The rhythm section is a huge key to what makes this CD a step forward from the previous one. Drummer Boyd Gardiner and bassman Mike Chandler have created a groove that takes them from the studio, onto the stage and into your soul.
This CD gives a glimpse into the evolution of a songwriter, too. Taylor has penned 12 great songs here and only one came from "the vault." These songs reflect his happiness with the progress forged by this band, starting with "Heaven Starts Right Here," a tune that picks up where the Eagles left off, and carrying you all the way through to "I Don't Want To Die Tonight," easily his best songwriting to date.
This collection is already getting them noticed and invited to some of the premier original music venues in San Diego, and the guys are looking forward to what lies further up the road. It promises to be quite a ride, so jump on board and join in the fun.
