Biography - Joe Taylor
Joe Taylor started off as a singer/songwriter for the "James Band". It had a Blue Rodeo/Beatles-meets-Eric Clapton type of feel. With some local television and newspaper coverage they played all over the greater metropolitan area of Toronto. They released two independent CD's with their own original tunes in 1996 and 1999.
In 2000, Taylor started working with local Oshawa producer and guitarist, Jeff Ross. They met in the summer of 1996 while Ross was recording and producing the James' Band's first album. By the winter of 2001, Taylor and Ross began working together on their own pop/rock sound. They became known as "Taylor Ross" and began work on their up and coming CD, "Heartfelt Graffiti." No release date has been picked as of yet. Local radio stations in New York, New Jersey (Cyberstormradio run by Al Cocchi), Pennsylvania (WDIY 88.1 FM), and Kingston, Ontario have started to put the five song promo version of "Heartfelt Graffiti" into rotation.
While working with Ross, Taylor collaborated with several other artists. He played bass and guitar with the "Scott Yvonne Trio" and Danny Nova of the "Danny Nova Band", the former front man for the 1970's band "Lover."
In June 2004, after playing at The Vox in Toronto, Taylor was discovered by Paul Shubot (post audio supervisor/re-recording mixer) and Alfie Di Pucchio (audio engineer/sound editor) from Toybox Studios in Toronto. That very night, Taylor recorded three original songs live off the floor at the studio under the engineering of Shubot and Di Pucchio. This recording has launched Taylor's career as a solo artist.
Taylor Ross disbanded in August of 2004. In that same month, Taylor recorded a live solo performance showcase for a local cable network in Kingston, Ontario. His performance was broadcast regionally throughout eastern Ontario.
September 2004 marked Taylor's first performance as a solo artist at CBGB's 313 Gallery in New York City. After relocating to Manhattan the following month, he was booked at the Knitting Factory.
Since then Taylor has played several showcases and open mics throughout the Tri-State area. He has recently become a member of the New York Singer/Songwriter Sessions.
