Description
"...Great lyrics, crystal clear pitch-perfect vocals, superb instrumentation, great variety, perfect production, what more can you ask? I've put every track from this cd into my BUZZ category (heavy play) this week, it's absolutely *essential* for your acoustic collection!" - Zoe Montana, host of radioioAcoustic, www.radioio.com
Third Road Home has been called "an embodiment of the Colorado sound," a description that suits their eloquent lyrics and soaring harmonies, as well as their down-to-earth style. Their music is an insightful and heartfelt blend of rootsy folk and country-infused rock. Lyrical and melodic, their sound appeals to those with mainstream tastes while Trinity's poetic lyrics and Tom's emotive lead guitar style invite attention from listeners seeking substance.
THIRD ROAD HOME'S STORY
"The name Third Road Home was derived from several concepts, including a 17th century poem about a traveling minstrel who took the third road to the Celtic otherworld, and Ouspensky's 'A New Model of the Universe' which speaks of the third element as a solution to all problems. We wanted a name that honored both the magical and the mundane, something that evoked both a feeling of mystery and a sense of comfort and familiarity." - Trinity Demask
True to their name, Third Road Home's music offers a soul-stirring blend of earthy Americana that is as evocative, compelling, and ethereal as it is warm and accessible.
Never truly fitting into one category or definition, the components of their sound have drawn interesting comparisons. Many comment that their harmonies are reminiscent of BoDeans and Indigo Girls while Trinity's songwriting evokes shades of Sarah McLachlan and Heather Nova. They have found a following amongst traditional folkies and rock fans alike, exhibiting a genuine enjoyment of making music that draws listeners in no matter what the venue.
Trinity and Tom Demask began performing together in spring 2001 as an acoustic duo. While Trinity was new to performing, Tom had been playing in bands since his teens. A seasoned guitarist and bassist, he had recently worked with a number of Denver-based projects including Victoria Woodworth, Eric Shiveley, Rachel's Playpen, Mary Beth Abella, Andy Ard and the Meantime, and the Permanent Transients.
From their first show, it was apparent that the couple had an undeniable chemistry. More than a mesmerizing voice, beautiful guitar work and vibrant harmonies, their fun-loving performances won them fans who appreciate their unassuming style.
In January 2004, Third Road Home released their debut CD, "Venus In Retrograde." This introspective collection of songs is continually lauded by reviewers and listeners alike for its intimate and conversational tone. "Listening to this CD is like a deep tissue massage, some lyrics hit hard, but it makes you feel released and strengthened in the end," writes one. "Great lyrics, crystal clear pitch-perfect vocals, superb instrumentation, great variety, perfect production, what more can you ask?" proclaimed RadioIO Acoustic channel host Zoe Montana, "it's absolutely essential for your acoustic collection."
Now joined by Brandy Stewart on drums, Third Road Home has the versatility to deliver their music as a rockin' acoustic/electric trio or as a more intimate acoustic duo. Whether in a bar, a coffeehouse, or on a festival stage, they present their music with an inclusiveness and intimacy that wins new fans time and again.
In four short years, Third Road Home has accomplished much. Some highlights include...
* "Venus In Retrograde" selected as a finalist in the Indie Acoustic Project's "Best CDs of 2004" awards in the Acoustic Ensemble category;
* Over 200 shows at a variety of venues and functions, sharing the stage with Mollie O'Brien, Ben Winship, Wolfstone, Susan Gibson, L.J. Booth and others;
* Multiple tracks from "Venus In Retrograde" in regular rotation on both commercial and community radio stations, and internet radio stations throughout the country;
* "Whatever Is" selected for the 2004 New Song Showcase at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas and for inclusion in the Oskar Blues/Colorado Music Association Sampler CD;
* and a nomination for Best Female Artist of 2004 on internet radio station Enchantress Radio.
Third Road Home is currently beginning work on their second CD scheduled for release in 2005.
