Description
TR Ritchie writes and performs neo-traditional acoustic music grounded in swing, ragtime, blues and country traditions. These influences, coupled with his award-winning lyric style, makes for a repetoire rich in variety and contrast: lively, soulful, worldly, whimsical, poetic, insightful.
His tools are both simple and classic fare: an acoustic guitar, a keen eye, an expressive voice, an ear for language and an inclination toward narrative in both his writing and in the unscripted musings which typify his live performances. He can think on his feet, and he's not afraid to let it show.
From his musical initiations as a street singer in Seattle, through his emergence as one of the country's finest songwriter/performers and on into his current itinerary of clubs, festivals and concert halls, Ritchie goes his own way, heedless of passing fad or convention. He delivers the goods, and he does so without resorting to a lot of bells and whistles.
What you see is what you get: first-rate songs, written with a storyteller's turn of phrase and a poet's love of language, performed with unapologetic enthusiasm by a player at the top of his form.
