Description
ICHMAEL was born in Trench Town, Jamaica and grew up in the hills of St.Ann, birthplace of Bob Marley. He began writing lyrics in the early 80's, but his first attempt at launching his singing career came in early 1994.
ICHMAEL released his first single, "I'VE GOT TO GET MOVING", which he wrote and produced with Trevor Romans. Known for his cultural lyrics, his first major performance occurred when he opened for Toots and the Maytals in South Florida on July 31, 1994. Since then he has made several appearances in South Florida and Jamaica. After three years of dedicated work, he has released his debut compact disc "JUST LIKE THAT". The CD was written and produced by ICHMAEL on his own JAHTECK label.
In early October 1996, Sonic Sounds, a Jamaican distributing company, released and distributed the single "I DON'T WANT MY PEOPLE PERISH", throughout the Caribbean and South Florida. Since then, this single has earned favorable comment within the reggae industry, and is one of the featured songs on the CD.
ICHMAEL'S CD comprises twelve original songs, combining cultural and thought- provoking lyrics with a great message. Through his powerful and soul searching songs, he hopes to inspire the world to come together as one, without regards to class, race, or creed.
