Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,...children of all ages!! Allow me to introduce myself. Me llamo es Bryan Kehoe, founder of The Kehoe Nation. Our objective is to be your second favorite new band you never heard of. Without boring the shit out of you with snappy repartee, here is the gist of what we are about and a bit of history.

The sound of the band has been described as a cross between The Reverend Horton Heat meets Primus,...on steroids. I prefer, AC/DC and Tom Waites in a knife fight, but...oompah, twang, boogadigga rawk 'n roll best fits the image of the music.

Here's a bit about me: Among other things, I've recorded three records and toured countless times criss-crossing the states, and made two trips to Europe with the band M.I.R.V., I was asked by Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) to spend a year touring in his band & recently Les Claypool rang up and asked me to join his band The Les Claypool Frog Brigade.

Meanwhile... I've dreamt of a deconstructed sound, rootsy without being lame and bluesy, but it still had to rawk. I drew on my influences from early punk and metal, and my large collection of vinyl records, mostly polka, cocktail, quirky country, bossa nova, etc, to influence the sound. I called up Amir and asked him to play a stand up bass through a distortion box. Previously he'd cut his teeth playing with guitar god Alex Skolnik (Testament) and the band Sourpuss. He told me to fuck off, but later thought it was a good idea. Next I talked with Al, who also played drums with Alex among a ton of unsung bay area acts, but I had something else in mind for him. Al inherited a large collection of antique orchestral percussion from his mother, who was the percussionist for the San Francisco Symphony, and from this, "The Contraption" was born. Now all we needed was a guy to sit behind the kit. Enter Tim "Soya" Solyan who had played with the un-catergorizable Victim's Family for years. The line up was complete.

We recorded five songs in Oct. of 2003 with the great Oz Fritz (Tom Waits, Bill Laswell, The Ramones). Who better to engineer and capture the sound? I am quite proud of these recordings and you are welcome to give them a listen to on our music page.

Unfortunately, not long ago, Soya was on the loosing end of a fistfight with a table saw. He will be all right, thank god. While he is recuperating, our good friend Joaquin Spengemann (Bluchunks, Walrus, Hellworms) will man the drums.
