Description
Ken Lyon's name conjures visions of four decades of music...everything from electric roadhouse blues with the Tombstone Blues Band, acoustic solo, and ensemble work featuring his incredible voice, guitar, and bass. Lyon's voice ranks among the finest on the American country blues scene, and his musical history is the stuff of legend including albums for Columbia, Decca, and others.
Lyon's father was a preacher, so Ken learned to sing at various churches throughout New England at an early age. Born in Newport, Rhode Island, he first heard folk and blues music at the early jazz and folk festivals, falling in love with the music of John Lee Hooker, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGee, Skip James, and others.
Through the years, Ken has recorded 11 singles and 3 albums, worked with Jimi Hendrix, and opened for Janis Joplin, Elton John, Canned Heat, Aerosmith, Marshall Tucker, Johnny Winter, Albert Collins, Steppenwolf, Son Seals, Delbert McClinton, Big Mama Thornton, Queen, Tower of Power, Tom Rush, Mott the Hopple, Levon Helm, Buffy St. Marie, James Cotton, Greg Allman, and countless others.
