Description
Kriegs marine consists of four members: Roger Schmidt on the saxophone, Paul Schmidt on the trumpet, Marshall Grant on the drums and Mark Schmidt on a 6 string bass. Kriegs marine is a hard hitting heavy bass CD which attributes it's distincitive European sound to the bands German roots.
The band has been blending and refining their heavy jazz sound since the early 90's. Not unlike Europe's other great master of music Bach, Strauss, Beethoven and Mozart. Kriegs marine also has a story to be told. Only buy fusing jazz with rock music backing and classic music structure can this unique sound be produced.
As the band's name implies, Kriegs marine is a tribute to the German navy of World War II. To all the U-boat skippers and surface fleet crews whose cunningness and nerves of steel defied all odds. The tragedy as long since past, the guns have been silenced for decades but their memory will never die.
The band has just added four new songs to this CD, each in tribute of the men and ships that endured the worst. 7. U-100. 8. Up from the Ashes. 9. The Age of Rage. 10. Prinz Eugen. Each telling it's own version of strength and endurance in times of peril.
