Description
OPTI-GRAB (www.opti-grab.com) formed in January 2002 with the sole purpose to create block rockin' beats that would be fun, boomin' and let people get stupid and shake their rumps. Their biggest influences are Afrika Bambaataa, Run DMC, Deee-Lite, JJ Fad, and Depeche Mode. Whether its writing, performing or just hanging out, these kids are always feeding off eachother's energies and laughing their heads off at something. The trio write their music together and all sing and rap, but each has a special skill: an unbelievable disco soul singer voice (Rick Gradone a.k.a. Fluffy), a wicked MC and amazing dancer (John Roberts a.k.a. Flaco), and a smoky sexpot voice (Tracy Murphy a.k.a. T$). Their high-energy fun shows quickly gained a huge following in NYC and before they knew it they were doing tour dates with Blondie and the Tom Tom Club. They have also played with some of the best of NYC and beyond: Candy Ass, W.I.T., Theo from the Lunachicks, MC Beans, Gogol Bordello, Northern State, The Sounds, Avenue D, Dujeous and The Flesh. OPTI-GRAB has just finished their self-released EP entitled Feed ya like a lion, make ya bounce like a bunny. It will be released October 10th, 2003.
