What does OstinAuto mean? It's based on the musical term "ostinato", which is a well-defined musical segment that is repeated. All of our songs are built upon repeated lines from the piccolo bass.
So what's a piccolo bass? It's kind of like a 6 string electric cello. Check out our song samples and see if you can pick it out.

In today's music world, it often seems that artists are more interested in making their music fit into a particular category than in making music from their heart and letting the musical chips fall where they may. So, it is refreshing for me to have recently listened to Ostinauto's new CD "The Whole World Spinz Anyway". The lead vocalist, Susan Olson is a powerful singer, who moves with relative ease through some complex changes and a roller coaster of cascading, but memorable melodies. Swanson, who wrote all the music and lyrics on the CD, plays a number of instruments on the album including piccolo bass, bass and piano. He is joined by a capable ensemble of musicians on guitar, percussion and viola, who altogether have achieved a full, tight, and well-mixed sound. The lyrics are well crafted, deep and reflective with a realistic balance of cynicism and hope.
