Description
This album of harmonica music makes a wonderful gift for grandparents who grew up on this kind of music. It is also great to play in the evening while you are sitting around the campfire on a camping trip. A lot of Boy Scout leaders are ordering it for that purpose.
Attention Harmonica Players:
All songs are in the Key of C and can be played on a standard 10-hole Diatonic Harmonica, although I did alternate with a 12-hole Hohner Marine Band diatonic for the low range on some of the songs for a little change of pace.
BIOGRAPHY:
My first musical influence was when, as a toddler, my father would drag out his fiddle (after a chorus of pleading and coaxing from all the kids) and play some of the fine old favorites such as: Turkey In The Straw", "Red Wing", "Red River Valley" and "Over the Waves" etc. which I've included on this album.
I started learning to play the Harmonica at the age of 15 when my older brother came home on furlough from the army and taught me my first harmonica licks which he had just learned from a buddy. The song was "Drinkin' Rum And Coke-a-Cola". Luckily I had an ear for music. Then I started learning to play folk songs on the harmonica and I was hooked for life. If you can whistle a tune or hum a song you can learn to play the harmonica and it will become your companion for life.
