Description
The Garden King is a concept album - about an oak tree, who tells stories of the dead lying beneath its roots. Each song is a tale about a different creature. The music combines classical guitar with melodic vocals and layers of atmospheric sound and includes such instrumentation as distorted guitars, sitars, synthesizer, fiddle, and harpsichord. The lyrics are intelligent yet heart-felt, and in one song (you'll have to find it yourself), Elevenland actually manages to nonchalantly rhyme the word orange.
William Ether (singer/songwriter) says that Elevenland is part of a New Jersey underground music scene that is characterized by a playful experimentality, graceful dissonance, and a picturesque absurdity, that is surreal against the backdrop of suburbia.
