Description
Elise West is a very sensitive and innovative composer/performer. Her fresh piano stylings take the listener to a softer, quieter place. In this world of fax machines and cell phones, it's a welcome place to be. -- (Kurt Bestor, Emmy Award Winning Composer.)
Elise's music has a purpose and an identity that continues to inspire all who listen to her music. Her experiences with the loss of family (her younger brother Scott, who took his life at the young age of 28, her older brother, Bryan, who died at age 39 from AIDS and her best friend and mother passed away suddenly in Feb. 2002) has given her the opportunity to learn from life's tough lessons and heartaches and has been her main inspiration and passion behind her unique musical style.
BACKGROUND:
38 years piano experience with training in classical jazz, composition and pop. Vocal, oboe and guitar training.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Opened for Maureen McGovern, Snowbird 2001; Opened for Shawn Colvin, Snowbird, August 2000, music selected for "Chicken Soup For the Soul" CD & workbook; comissioned to compose songs for the Ronald McDonald House, Senator Orrin Hatch 2003 Women's Conference guest artist, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (Salt Lake City), YWCA Battered Women's Shelter and Cancer Wellness House; selected as a featured artist in the United Artist Theaters Showcase program in over 6600 theaters nationwide in 1998. Selected by KUTV Channel 2 as the featured artist to-perform for the 1st & 2nd Annual "Ronald McDonald Telethon" and composed theme song. Music off the "HARVEST" CD used exclusively throughout the telethon. Voted by the Annual Reader's Poll as the Top Female Solo Performer in Utah. Selected to be on the Utah Arts Council Performing Arts Tour in 1999-2000. Signed with Ivory Wave Records in April 1997. Released a new age album CD"SIMPLICITY" in 1995 and is in its second printing. Released second CD, "HARVEST", in 1998, which sold out in five months and is in its second printing. Released third CD, "PASSION" in 2003. Composed, arranged, performed and produced all songs on the CD's. Selected by Steelyn Productions as one of the top 20 artists in Utah. Music used in Fisheye Productions Moab film aired on the Animal Planet Channel, music used for YWCA and Southwest Airlines videos, Regal Conservatories advertisement on KBZN 97.9, selected as one of ten artists for the Summerhays Music compilation album released November 1998.
