Description
Emily Greene's performance, like her lyrical lines, flow easily from start to finish with insight, humor and compassion. Clever lyrics, thoughtful music, and captivating stage presence keep audiences coming back. Emily's witty, entertaining shows and her keen observation of human nature have built a dedicated, enthusiastic fan base.
Despite her relatively new emergence on to the folk scene, Emily is no stranger to the world of music. Born in Western Canada, Emily spent her first seven years in Newfoundland, where she began violin lessons at the age of two. Her musical focus at this early age was primarily on classical training, but also included fiddling. In 1987, Emily's family moved to the United States and she continued her study of the violin. Emily's significant background in music theory & violin instruction made picking up the guitar natural & has influenced her current songwriting.
Listeners in both hemispheres recognize Emily's dynamic, skillfully-crafted songs. During a five-month stay in New Zealand, Emily quickly established herself as a well-respected singer/songwriter. After receiving overwhelmingly enthusiastic receptions at Wellington "open mics," Emily was soon playing regularly in New Zealand folk clubs.
Upon her return to the United States, Emily opened for folk great Dar Williams. She has since had the opportunity to play numerous college coffee houses and summer folk festivals.
From relationships to stories of growing up, Emily's songs capture what is going on in people's heads. Enchanting, often humorous, always truthful, Emily tells the story with emotion, clarity and candor.
