Description
Emily Zuzik is known as much for her powerful voice as for her creative style. With her debut solo release, she combines her inspirations ranging from Stevie Wonder, the Beatles and Madonna into a musical gumbo. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter brings powerful vocals, pop hooks and rock swagger from recording to every performance.
While living in San Francisco, she joined with songwriter Ben Ratliff to form the band Sexfresh, (see www.cdbaby.com/sexfresh) whose debut album "The Fainting Room" received wide critical acclaim. Emily plays with Ben as an acoustic duo, as well as solo. She has played with other groups like Funkmobile, WAMMIE-awarded Shitty Shitty Band Band, Babes with Beats and Southern Frost.
As an Epiphone Guitars endorsed artist, Emily is also heavily involved in the women's music community, as a member of Indiegrrl, Gogirlsmusic and Womanrock. She is also Events Coordinator for Womanrock.com.
In 2003, she and Athena Reich formed Siren's Wild Ride, a nationally touring collective of female singer-songwriters, which began touring that fall. The group has sponsors as diverse as GoGirlsMusic, Designateria clothing, Women Who Rock Magazine and others. For more info, visit www.sirenswildride.com.
