Doesn't everyone want to know how an artist arrives at his musical name? For you, I proclaim: Epiphora is defined as "watering of the eyes due to a blockage of the lachrymal ducts or the excessive secretion of tears." Wow. OK, that's pretty heavy. Fortunately, it has a secondary meaning: "the emphatic repetition of a word or phrase at the end of several sentences or stanzas." Hey, that sounds like it could be related to music. Tears and music - perfect! I don't expect to make anyone cry with my music, but I hope I can touch a nerve now and then. If my music causes you pain, perhaps you should listen at a lower volume.
Some songs have a fast beat and driving rhythm, while others are soothing, relaxing, and meditative. The most common reaction to Epiphora music is that it sounds not only familiar, but also like it belongs on a soundtrack. While Get This is entirely instrumental, The Watery Eye has three songs with vocals. My friends Melody and Cate wrote fantastic lyrics and sang them beautifully - a round of applause, please (to them for their efforts and to me for not trying to sing). If you have a copy of Get This, I hope you enjoy the change of pace The Watery Eye offers. If you don't have your own copy of either, you can conveniently buy them here.
I am hoping to get my music as much exposure as I can - on the radio, online, in people's cars, in their homes, and in their heads. Yes, even in their iPods. Word of mouth has been my best friend so far. If you like what you hear, spread the word!
