Description
Mark Coleman's "Outside the Circle" was just named 2003 country album of the year in the 7th annual Hawaii Music Awards, but country tunes aren't all that's on it. The nine-song CD also features blues, rock, reggae and more.
"Outside the Circle" is singer-songwriter Mark Coleman's second solo album, and third recording effort overall. His first solo album was "Mark Coleman Tunes With Love," released in 1996. He also released an album in 1998 with his band Potato Cannon, called "Monday Night Live!"
Mark Coleman's musical influences are diverse, which is reflected in the wide range of styles featured on his albums. On "Outside the Circle," the melodies are memorable, the lyrics intelligent, and the musicianship outstanding. Each song is refreshingly different.
The musicians on "Outside the Circle" are some of Hawaii's best: Sean Thibadeaux, guitar virtuoso and the CD's producer and arranger; Pierre Grill, piano and accordion; Kevin Coleman, harmonica; Andrew de Velschow, pedal steel and banjo; Kevin Hughes, horns; and the Rhythm Butchers, on bass and drums.
