Description
Mark Williams grew up in a musical family in eastern North Carolina. He began playing guitar with high school friends in the basement of a neighbor's home. Through the years, he honed and refined his talent.
Throughout his twenties, Mark performed up and down the southeastern seaboard as both a front-man for various bands and as a solo acoustic artist.
He further strengthened his skills and talent by attending songwriters' workshops and seminars given by some of the most prominent songwriting veterans in Nashville, Tennessee.
Then on a September evening in 2001, Mark writes, "I sat down to write one song for a performance at a friend's Bible study. I figured it was best to start with personal experience, so I began to reflect on my own relationship with God. I knew I had drifted away from what God wanted me to be and yet I could sense he was pulling me towards him through different events that were happening in my life. What a merciful God that he would still have a place for me! That night I wrote a simple prayer that became the song Carry Us. When the song was finished I realized God was giving me direction through a friend's request, and I was determined to follow God with all my heart."
Since that night, Mark has followed God's direction and answered the call to become the worship bandleader for his church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He has produced and recorded a CD of original Christian songs; some of which have received airplay on a local radio station. He has performed at several churches and other venues.
Mark Williams continues to be inspired to write songs that speak of a God who continually reaches out for his children who have lost their way, nudging them with his Spirit, to live into the fullness of his grace offered through Jesus Christ. Mark writes, "The songs are each in their own way a testimony of my faith in Christ and my desire to serve. It is my hope that someone, anyone, will listen and be inspired to seek God's grace. God is always there for us reaching out with merciful hands."
The songs Mark Williams sings, and his amiable personality convey the graciousness of God's love, through the Spirit of Christ which embraces all people who seek his Presence.
Mark seeks, therefore, to work with the evangelistic and missional objectives of those who invite him to perform.
Years of experience performing have contributed to Mark's ability to relate to audiences in settings as varied as intimate coffee houses to outdoor festivals.
Quote from DJ Johnny Bryant - WDRP 98.9 Williamston, NC
"Being in radio, I hear several hundred songs a week...The Mark Williams "Hold On" project was one of those that really just pulled you into it. The voice, the music, the message. Mark is one that can write the song and deliver the message with feeling, that speaks from heart to heart."
