Description
Hi Friends, and thanks for checking out my CD.
I recorded this CD last year in a "real" studio with "real" studio players--it cost more than a few bucks extra, but it was time to break out of the basement!
I am a roots-based artist from Edmonton, Alberta. My name is pronounced Ma-chura (sounds just like mature-a.) It is a slavic (Ukrainian) name that means "Mountain Man."
I have been playing music semi-professionally for over 25 years (dances, pubs, festivals, etc.) This CD is my first "professional" release.
My CD is getting some great radio support on several local radio stations and is selling well at my live shows. I was really happy (and somewhat surprised!) when a copy of the disc sold within the first 24 hours of its being available here through CD Baby.
Gordon Lightfoot, Ian Tyson, and John Denver are my big three deep influences. Recent favourites include Lyle Lovett, Fred Eaglesmith, and Steve Earle.
Perhaps if you like one or two of these guys, you will also dig my stuff, and my live show which features covers by these and other roots artists like Hank Williams (the first roots artist), Johnny Cash, Neil Young, etc.
Keep on keeping on friends and don't be shy--drop me a note or line anytime...
Looking forward to meeting you soon.
John Denver used to say, "Peace, my friends!"
Take care and keep up the support of independent music!
