Description
Meade Skelton was born on April 8th, 1979,
in Virginia, the youngest of five children.
He began playing piano at age three and started
singing even before that. Growing up his life
revolved around music. When he was five-years-
old he decided that someday, no matter how long
it would take, he would have a song among
the Top 20.
So Meade's musical journey began. First by
playing piano. He loved performing.
At age 10, won first place for an original
composition in the Classical vein, called
"Victory". Later, his focus turned to singing.
Trajedy struck at age 11, when he lost his mother
to cancer. But in her honor, he kept on going
with his music. He began singing all across
Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia by his
early teens.
He sang at countless barbeques, radio stations,
retirement homes,street corners- anywhere folks
would listen. He made recordings of his music
and passed them around for his school classmates
to listen to. He was a natural entertainer,
but was not well liked by his classmates who
often made fun of him, as he was awkward
and overweight.
When he was 18 he moved to his late mother's
hometown of Richmond. Since then he has been
heavily involved the Central Virginia Music
Scene, performing with such entourages as
The Kate Lawton Band, The Gravity Hounds,
The Floating Folk Festival, and others.
Meade writes songs that are honest and
from the heart, but never pretentious.
And there's always a touch of humor in
each of his songs.... even those sad ones.
Which is what makes his style so unique.
But moreover, it is his deep rich Clasically
trained Tenor Voice which makes him stand out.
Meade is a "Singer's-Singer", blessed
with a voice of rare and fine quality.
Although a "Country Singer", his voice
is more Mario Lanza than Hank Williams.
Aside from his musical pursuits, Meade
also enjoys acting and has appeared in
several plays and on local television many
times with his popular "Meade Skelton Show".
