Description
With a sound that is simultaneously fresh/folky and old school/antique, Michelle Payne and Rebecca Zapen present an album of traditional and original folk songs of heartache and hope, honesty and dispair. Their first album together is self-titled, but the duo is named Selma, for geographical and historical reasons. Michelle and Rebecca first met in 2002 through their collaboration in the Blue Moon Project, a dance and music project in Jacksonville, Florida. They became fast friends and started playing music together at clubs and festivals in Florida. Selma combines vocal harmonies with guitar, violin, and colors their sound with keyboard, mandolin, and glockenspiel.
