Description
Rebecca Padula is a singer's singer-songwriter with a rich smooth alto and a New England sensibility. Her take on small communities is popular among audiences and her peers. The title track to her newest album, "Time, Speed & Distance," about driving through a Nor'Easter, was chosen a finalist in the Philadelphia Songwriters Association's Road Songs competition (2004).
Her style is eclectic and engaging, but you won't find many love songs in her songbook. You will find: "Less" a lament for farmland lost to big box stores; "Moonlighting in VT" a lighthearted spoof on Vermont's tourism based economy; "The Neighbors" which chronicles a domestic disturbance in her neighborhood; and "Bagel Go Round" a tribute to a popular breakfast hangout- for Padula, politics are local.
She has penned more than 40 original songs and released 2 independent albums: "Time, speed & distance" (2003) and "Waterfront" (1997). In addition, she has recorded themes and incidental music for local television and is producer/director of The Instant Coffeehouse, a monthly public access TV program that showcases solo performers.
