Description
Patrick Dunn's music reflects a maturity beyond his years, and can only lead to excitement about this 23-year-old songwriter. Combining rock with a little alt-folk, a sharp lyrical potency, and an indie feel, Patrick's debut album,"Corner Room," was released on May 3, 2005. It leaves no question that he is here to stay.
Originally from New York, Patrick returned home after spending four years at a Philadelphia-area college, ready to record "Corner Room." With little money, he decided to produce it himself and play all the instruments.
"For the most part, I recorded the album where I sleep. Any money I did have went into equipment and things like that. So for a few months, I was basically holed up in this room all day just writing, recording, and mixing. I'd go in and lose track of time. I had to really live the whole process."
The result is an album that unfolds itself over an eclectic mix of styles and well-inspired songs that refuse to leave the listener unaffected.
Patrick on "Corner Room":
I made "Corner Room" throughout the Fall and Winter of 2004/2005. I was in one of those weird transitional stages, and sort of still am. The songs on there that are about me, personally, come from a "What the hell do I do now?" place. The past couple of years had been pretty up and down in a manic sort of way, and I was questioning everything; my relationships, my place...everything. A few of the songs I had written over the previous year or two about a particular person, but most of them were written within a few months of recording. The title track was actually written towards the end of the recording process in November.
