Pfenninger, Rik - Professor of Music: saxophone, jazz studies, music technology.
Dr. Pfenninger is currently professor of saxophone and director of jazz studies and music technology at Plymouth State University.
Dr. Pfenninger received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, his Master of Music degree in woodwinds from the University of Michigan, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Temple University.
Dr. Pfenningers' performance background includes touring Cuba, Europe, Canada, and the United States with various jazz and show groups.
Dr. Pfenninger has performed with Randy Brecker, Chris Vadala, Marvin Stamm, the Righteous Brothers, the Supremes, the Temptations, the Yellow Jackets, and the New Hampshire Music FestivalOrchestra.
With 5 albums, a recording for the National Geographic televisionseries, countless clinics and solo appearances, he is in constant demand as aguest soloist and clinician.
Dr. Pfenninger has just recently completed six solo jazz recording for Sandstorm Records playing flute, electronic wind instrument, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, and soprano saxophone.
Dr. Pfenninger has also published arrangements for saxophone quartet, several jazz charts, a textbook on MIDI and Finale, and a book on beginning jazz improvisational techniques.
This CD is unique because it is a solo jazz artist performing with a Macintosh computer.
