Description
"Part sweltering Americana, part flat-out rock, Popejoy's songs call to mind both Lucinda Williams and Ani Difranco for their intensity and intelligence"
K. Daniel Rucker, - The Nashville Rage
"...Southern and folk influences dominate songs like "Best Intentions" and "Downtown Churches". From the first guitar licks on "Jimmy" you can tell Popejoy graduated with honors from the Lucinda Williams school."
Greg Joseph, - 2 Walls Webzine, NYC, NY
BIO
When multi-talented recording artist Sarah Popejoy visited the studio this past summer, an anthem album was created. The debut album, entitled Complete Exposure, offers a fresh brew of sound that is tastefully satisfying. Big production and gutsy songwriting decorate the album with 10 originals and a Mary-Chapin Carpenter cover, "Middle Ground". Complete Exposure leaves the listener with nothing but an instinctive hunger for more of Sarah's distinctive sound.
Tulsa native of 21 years and a Nashville transplant of 3, Sarah's debut album, Complete Exposure, is an awesome example of versatility of musicianship ranging from the driving Latin American sound of "A Prayer", the power-rock'n'roll-ballad "Love Shouldn't Hurt", the western-beat of "Downtown Churches", the urban edge of "Best Intentions", a slice of American Pie in "Jimmy", and to the psychedelic swirling sounds of "Perception". This dynamic album creates a unique blend of music that is as unique as the artist herself.
