Description
Pretty Flowers is a Brooklyn-based quartet made up of the sweetest degenerates on the planet. Their clever lyrics, catchy, co-ed harmonies, energetic live shows and driving indie, punk and garage rock have made them the darlings of the New York underground. Pretty Flowers has played at many of New York's top rock clubs, in CMJ and in cities throughout the U.S. In the near future they will be taking their winning combination of smarts, sex and humor to your hometown.
Pretty Flowers' influences are many, and their sound is hard to describe, but fans like to say it's a cross between The Pixies and Motorhead. Pretty Flowers prefers to call their sound TARDCORE, which has become a movement in its own right. The organizing principle is that music should be about having a good time and not about taking oneself too seriously, and stands in stark contrast to emo and other dark, brooding genres.
Pretty Flowers is made up of Russ Josephs (vocals/bass), Yelena Milskaya (vocals/guitar), Rex Hamilton (vocals/guitar) and Danny Cashen (drums). Since late 2003 they have been gigging, recording and writing songs. They have given themselves over completely to the band and to Tardcore, and want nothing more than to spread their music to the masses, through recordings and live shows. Won't you please join them?
Press Quotes:
What do they [Pretty Flowers] sound like? Take the rawness of the Ramones, the quirkiness of the Pixies, the energy of Green Day and the sex appeal of Blondie and you're close.
- D.I.Y. Diary
Brooklyn's Pretty Flowers mix crunchy indie punk with boy/girl harmonies and songs about sluts and Scheisse movies. What could be better? -What's Up Magazine
Great songs. Great energy. Loud, fast, and lots of fun.
- Artswire
Their demo was way too short; I wanted to hear more, and I expect others will too. - Tower Records, New York City
Their lower-than-lo-fi garage-band sound is instantly rousing, and the songs themselves are witty, original, and to-the-point. - Culturebot
As time marches on, so will this electrifying band as they work their way up the proverbial ladder, to all of the successes that await them. - International Online Music
