Description

Formed in the spring of 2004, Core Effect is a Detroit based band whose music has been described as heavy, modern, "hook" driven rock with an experimental edge. The band has been compared to the likes of Stone Temple Pilots, Incubus, Deftones and Tool yet has carved out their own very distinctive sound.

Guitarist Joe Keough excels at creating hallmark abstractions with his typically effect-rich sound. Adding to the depth of their melody is a vocal chorus that includes two voices: that of lead singer Mike Furrer and bassist Randy Riddle. Furrer handles a majority of the singing duties and tends to belt out his lines emphatically and with head turning emotion. Riddle's voice, in stark contrast to Furrer's, has a unique, deep pitch and timbre. The rhythm section of the band brings strength through consistent, groove heavy hooks often written in odd time signatures. These characteristics and the energy of the band members make Core Effect's live shows explosive and emotional. Core Effect's music is very accessible to the every day listener, yet compelling enough to impress those in the music industry.
