Description
Cybermonkey comprises the efforts of Lisa Turner, Tad Winklarz and Marlon Kempmann. Though categorization is never pretty at the best of times; Cybermonkey can be referred to as 'Progressive World Ambi-Groove' in styling (without being overly offensive to anyone). The music lends itself to a personal atmosphere, to the other arts, or as a soundtrack to life.
Cybermonkey's recording base is absolutely integral to the overall sound. Canada's multicultural elements have been described as a 'salad bowl' as opposed to a 'melting pot' (or even 'non-existant') in other parts of the world. The 'salad bowl' enables a wide variety of different sounds and influences to be incorporated into the music of Cybermonkey. This environment is not fully appreciated by those who are able to experience it; and this is something Cybermonkey would like to help change.
Reviews:
"It would lend itself well to works of film and pictures - without them (it) lends to great travels of the imagination and provokes thought."
SCOT TURNER - PD / The Beat / Vancouver
"The music's trippy, far-out and well-executed and perhaps most importantly, it has spine ... it comes for you, takes hold and makes you better for having heard it."
JEDD BEAUDOIN - Sea of Tranquility
"The entities of World Music's probably most progressive manifestation."
VITALY MENSHIKOV - ProgressoR
