Description
One night in the lobby of El Conquistador this young blonde girl came over to the piano and asked for my autograph.
"You are the Colonel, aren't you?'
Well the other musicians and the waiters and bartenders all cracked up and the name stuck.
I admit to bearing some resemblance to the KFC icon. My real name is Don Baaska and I don't fry chicken, although I have been known to make a mean barbacue on occasion. My only real claim to fame is that I've never had a day job. I'm too lazy to work and too nervous to steal so I've played piano all my life. When not playing in some hotel bar or lounge in Puerto Rico, my wife and I cruise the Caribbean in a homemade Wharram catamarran and do a lot of snorkling and free diving and usually score dinner.
