Description
"Recording these songs, having my own CD, has been my dream for a long time. To have it come together and achieve your dream is a fantastic feeling." - D.P. Way
Burning Daylight has been a labor of love for Don Paul Way. It is the culmination of DP's songwriting, a heart-felt representation of where he comes from and where he's headed. A lifetime of experience, heartache and joy, poured into 11 songs played heart and conviction. Some people lead fairly ordinary lives; others follow a road less traveled. For Don Paul Way, the road has had some twists and turns and his songs tell the tale.
These are songs that stay with you. They are a reminder of why you like great songs - strong melodies, big hooks, stick-to-your ribs tunes that touch you in the right places.
D.P.'s easy vocal delivery sets just the right tone, and his signature thumb-played bass sound puts the thump in the bottom. Joining him on the CD are some of his oldest and best friends; long-time musical partners who helped bring the songs to life.
George Deveny plays haunting Dobro lines that add an ethereal quality to the ballads and bluesy tunes, and layers Les Pauls for his strong lead lines. Dave Liddy's keys provide depth and substance, and the disk is anchored by the strong rhythm of drummer Bob Holz and percussionist Darryl Mattison. Backing vocals by Steve "Mule" Quenneville, Alesha Gonyea, Maren Vantine and Deveny complete the sound.
Produced by George Deveny and recorded at Savage Studio and J.A. Castle in Central New York in 2003 and 2004, "Burning Daylight" is a strong effort that deserves a listen.
