Description
Dr Breeze is Wilk McKean, born and raised in New Orleans he grew up with the sounds of Dixieland jazz, rhythm and blues and pop. At the age of nine, his grandfather bought him a trumpet and he learned the basics of music, hoping to be the next Al Hurt. In 1963, his life changed forever when he heard The Beatles on the radio. He bought his first guitar at the age of twelve and like the song said "played until his fingers bled". He was playing his first professional gigs by the age of fifteen, and by the time he was legal to play in clubs, he had already played his share of them. He played in groups with names like The Shadows of Eternity, Potter's Field and Bayou. During this time, he also had the opportunity to work as a vocalist in some of the area's top recording studios, as well as compiling a nice collection of original music. He also wrote a couple of radio jingles.
In 1979, he helped form a group called Flite. This group is still together, still making killer music and still very popular, aging gracefully on the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain.
In 1989, he left the U.S. for a seven-year European tour. Living in Germany and England, he played with a pair of German musicians in a trio called The Night Dogs. Eventually, all good things must come to an end and he returned stateside in 1996.
Pensacola, Florida looked like a good place to settle. Having traveled to exotic places like Hong Kong, Hawaii, Palma Majorca, Cannes, Cypress, and the Caribbean, he considers the area from Gulf Shores, Alabama to Panama City, Florida to have some of the best beaches in the world. He finds it a joy to live and play in the area he calls the Redneck Riviera and is happy to call it home. He is now firmly established and is enjoying just about all the work he can handle entertaining at private parties, group conferences at some of the area's finest resorts and weddings.
He recently finished production on his fourth CD of original music in his Pensacola studio for his own End of the Road record label. And now you have an opportunity to check out his music for yourself!!
