Description
It's been a period of sublime inner solitude, dry skin, and painful retellings of personal stories since their last release and tour, but the Doers now have a new full length record album called "Whatcha Doin'?" which was recorded at the Hive Studios by Jesse Gander and a new drummer named Joy.
Both of whom will be presented to the world this April in the form of a CD, a colored vinyl record LP, a drummer, and a big, fat ol' tour. A tour and record spiel even better, even more perfect than the "The Plastic Bass" EP, released in November 2005 and debuting at number 1 on Vancouver's college radio, CiTR.
Since their first show in May 2003, The Doers have performed at least 250 shows across Canada and the US. They've shared the stage with wonderful humans like Mike Watt, Grant Hart from Hsker D, Nardwaur the Human Serviette, Nomeansno, Black Mountain, Greg Macpherson, and the Weakerthans.
In 2004, The Doers signed a three-record Canadian-exclusive licensing deal with Vancouver independent label Red Cat Records. Their debut CD+ EP "Ready, Set, Do/ I Can Enjoy Almost Anything", (featuring guest Mike Watt on electric bass,) was released on September 14, 2004 and charted at number 11 on Earshot! charts for the month of November. Ready, Set, Do was also released in the US in May 2005 through Nail Distribution.
Shortly after touring for Ready, Set, Do, The Doers recorded a nationally-aired live performance for CBC Radio, another live set was recorded for the Live At The Hive Sessions, which showcases some of the Hive's most inspiring customers, (as featured in the Globe and Mail's arts section.)
