Description
Hunting Bigfoot is the brain-child of two high school buds - Paul Rowan and Christopher Walsh. Although the two have been playing music independently for years, they'd never played together until now. Walsh was in a string of NYC bands including Petrol and Lowdown Payment, and Rowan was to used to banging it out on a borrowed acoustic when he got drunk at parties.
Rowan wasn't the kind of guy to do group sing-alongs or Eagles covers. He played loud, in-your-face originals that dared his audience to make him stop.
"I was never trying to entertain. My attitude was "you think you're going to sit on the sofa and have a quiet discussion about Sense and Sensibility? F**k that, you're going to listen to this!"
Rowan finally decided that his impromptu performances weren't getting his point across to a wide enough audience, so he enlisted Walsh to help make it happen - and Johnny Rolfe soon thereafter.
By Fall 2004, the band had road-tested their material in countless dives and local clubs, relying on old friends and band-mates to fill in on bass and drums when needed. They even played a few acoustic shows with Rowan and Walsh on guitars, and Johnny Rolfe in the front row yelling, Fu**ing pussies! The band went into the studio in early 2005 and began recording So Much For Last Year.
