Roger Guthrie also known as "Jah-D".. Born of Jamaican parents in London, England... The last of 5 sibblings..
Started entertaining at an early age,and so it is no suprise to everyone that he is here right now enjoying his solo career and finally completing one his life long goals, his CD 'Stronger'.
Jah-D has had the pleasure of playing with some of reggae's greats like Denis Emanuel Brown,Freddie McGregor,Maxie Priest,Shabba Ranks,Buju Banton,Judy Mowatt and many more.. He also has played for one of UK's greatest R&B groups"Loose Ends".
Whilst in Zimbabwe with another great UK reggae group"Aswad",he met and played with one of Jamaicas greatest icons, Harry Bellafonte, and on the other end of the spectrum he also, whilst with Aswad, jammed with the great Bruce Hornesby... During his move to the USA in the late 80's, he hooked up with a band based in New York called "A-Team" and had many more encouters with reggae greats such as Gregory Isaacs, the cool ruler...
Now we all can listen to Jah-Dz muzik, with all the infulences of his incredible musical journey. His album"Stronger"runs the guantlet of muzikal styles, ranging from straight up reggae to dancehall style, then he touches a little reggaeton flavour with an awesome title track instrumental, yes insrtumental, as Jah-d is also an accomplished saxophonist, he aslo plays an intrument made by Yamaha called 'WX-11" it is used twice on his album,in 'Stronger and Just Imagine'. Asked what he would like to acheive musically via this great album he said he hopes it can heal troubled hearts instill hope where it is lost, and joy when people feel like given up. He also hopes his muzik will help to foster a spirit of luv and unity between people of all races throughout this world.
