Description
Signed to Columbia Records at the age of 19, John Parker Compton co-founded the acoustic band APPALOOSA with violinist extraordinaire Robin Batteau. Their self-titled Columbia album produced by legendary musician-producer Al Kooper is still sought out 30 years later by adoring fans around the world. Recently, 'Appaloosa' was reissued on Collector's Choice Music. German music magazine Oldie-Markt calls this recording "...one of the most exceptional records in the broad area of Folk and Rock."
John Parker Compton has shared the stage with Van Morrison, Tim Hardin, Laura Nyro, John Hammond, The Allman Brothers, The Rascals.
Recently, a tape was found of a concert by John Parker Compton at the Turk's Head Coffeehouse in Orleans, MA in 1968. This recording features Robin Batteau on violin. The CD also contains 8 tracks with John and Robin performing LIVE on Harvard University's WHRB FM.
