"Lizanne sings so sweet she makes birds jealous" Phil Roy
A long standing member of the singer-songwriter scene in Philadelphia, Lizanne Knott has been captivating audiences throughout the Northeast and garnering attention from radio listeners in places as far away as Australia and the UK. Well known locally for her understated music, floating vocals and lyrical juxtapositions, her apparent depth and transcending warmth make for an inviting mix of music which moves easily through dark poetic ballads - to soulfull jazz influenced jems - to folk driven rock. Perhaps most captivating is her way of using poetic verse to touch the simplist of human emotions, reminding us that at the end of the day, we are all in this together.
Lizanne has performed at some of the most prestigious listening venues in the Northeast including; The Kimmel Center, Club Passim, The Bitter End, The Tin Angel, The Point, World Cafe Live, Steel City CH, ASCAP Showcases, Sundown Concert Series and more. She has been featured on WXPN and WERS among other college radio stations and her music has been used in independant films and by national non-profit organizations. Together with husband - GRAMMY Award winning producer/engineer, Glenn Barratt - who's credits include work with Sting, Elton John, Janis Ian, Jill Scott, Susan Werner, Phil Roy and a host of their friends (who happen to be some of the most renowned session players around) she merges her delicately soulful sound with some of todays most innovative music.
Lizanne can be found at MorningStar Studios, where she is a working artist, composer and studio partner and Rainy Day Records, a division of Sound City Entertainment in Los Angeles, California - as both a recording artist and A&R rep for the Philadelphia area. She continues to ardently support new artists and the local music scene.
"Hauntingly delicate vocals. For some would-be singer-songwriters, life often gets in the way of their dreams. But for Lizanne Knott, it was life that paved the way for her music, opening doors in the most unexpected of places - and creating a small fervor that would lead to an enamored following in the Philadelphia area."
Nalia Francis - Sound Stage
"With melodies and lyrics that are finely crafted, Lizanne Knott forges a strong connection with her listeners. Her voice, stage presence and performance style make even those who don't enjoy live music gravitate toward her. No diamond in the rough....she's shining through with a lot of natural bling."
