Description
You've probably already heard her music without knowing it. Laura Doyle is becoming quietly famous for having her music featured in movies and TV shows and they aren't just obscure background pieces. Her music is often used to help communicate the emotional themes in montages and character moments; to express the subtext and inner thoughts of the people on screen. She has a knack for getting to the heart of things and the entertainment industry has noticed. She now has over twenty TV and film placements from her 13 song debut CD "No Easy Answers" including 2 songs featured in the Canadian film "Suddenly Naked" which both earned Genie Award nominations in 2003.
Laura Doyle was also discovered on the internet by the TV series "Dawson's Creek". They used 3 songs in the last season and her music is currently becoming known across the globe as the show airs everywhere from Berlin to Brazil. Last year Sony added her second single "Your Love" to their on-line soundtrack since it has become known as the song Joey and Dawson made love to for the first time.
Following her initial success, Laura Doyle began receiving calls from filmmakers asking her to write songs specifically for their projects. In 2002, she co-wrote seven songs in Los Angeles with composer Jeffrey Taylor on the U.S. indie feature "Happy Hour" starring Eric Stolz.
Laura Doyle began her career in the entertainment industry as a TV screenwriter in Los Angeles and Vancouver on mostly teen programs including "Neon Rider", "Madison", MTV's "Undressed" and the CBS drama "Early Edition". She kept pitching stories about singer songwriters and one day decided she wasn't satisfied just writing about her dream. She pursued voice training with Vancouver's top vocal coach Judith Rabinovitch who is known for her work with Sarah McLachlan and Avril Lavigne and co-produced her debut album on a digital recording system after being inspired by Moby's ability to make a record in his bedroom. One of the first songs she co-wrote with co-producer and musician Sean Eyre was on TV only one month after they recorded it. The song "Let You Go" was also the regional winner of the National Songwriting Competition and when the Vancouver top 40 station Z95.3FM added the song to daytime rotation, Laura Doyle did the only thing she could think of to get the music to the people. She sold CDs on Vancouver's popular Robson street for two summers to people from all over the world.
Laura Doyle is currently in the studio with co-producer Graeme Coleman recording her second album. It is scheduled to be released in early summer of 2006.
