Description
Lucy Tiffin takes us on a journey through true love and heartbreak with her long awaited debut album, Under the Covers. A collection of songs written by the woman herself, which have been described by family and friends as haunting and infectious. Etheric pop which will have you humming all day and most probably in your sleep. An innocent yet saucy debut. Definitely an album for hopeless romantics.
Over the years, a variety of music has influenced the budding singer/songwriter. Her first love was disco music ranging from Madonna, to Earth Wind and Fire, the Average White Band and The Little River Band. These days her music collection is more eclectic and you can find her listening to bands such as Guns & Roses, the Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith who are her idols. She says she fell in love with Steve Tyler's voice when she heard," I don't wanna miss a thing," which is now her party piece!
Lucy got her first piano when she was six years old and has been taking lessons ever since. Although she was a singer from a very early age, Lucy didn't take vocal lessons until she started college. Her teacher, Ms Debbie Eveleigh specialised in Opera and it's thanks to her that Lucy can now sing up to four octaves.
Lucy's first studio experience was at fifteen years old, a year after she'd written her first song, Nightmare. She recorded this and another called He's the One, and had 200 copies of the demo made. She was sold out in three weeks.
Whilst at college, studying performing arts and Admin skills, Lucy met a talented Guitarist and producer named Cameron Strife (see his website www.Cameronstrife.com and listen to his album, expressions) who became a very good friend. They started a project called Say it with Strings which was an album consisting of Nightmare, Here, Just good friends, Watch me, Summer Rain and Something More. Lucy arranged the backing of the songs from a computer programme called Q-base and Cameron did his thing on the guitar. He also mixed the album from the Studio at the college. The demo consisting Under the Covers and a revamped He's the one, was produced a few years later with her Piano teacher, Mr Steve Ball, in his home studio. The idea to merge all these three demos came when Lucy realised she could make her music known via the internet and that's when she found CDbaby.
Lucy's success with her music has been varied. Say it with strings found its way onto Turkish Radio thanks to a friend and into the hands of the Cheeky Girls when she met them a few months ago at a works do, (Lucy works as an admin assistant for Dorton House blind school in Kent, UK). She sang Under the Covers, live on radio as part of a Guinness world record and received many calls from listeners, complimenting her on her beautiful voice and asking where she performed live! Lucy has also performed in three Professional Operas with AQUARIUM theatrical company and in the summer of 98; was Lead Flying Monkey in a summer production of 'The Whiz', which was managed by Sylvia Young's stage school in Kent (a very reputable school). The venue was the Orchard Theatre, Dartford, Kent (supposedly Mick Jagger's hometown). Lucy has performed to audiences larger than three hundred on numerous occasions. She tries to perform as much as possible, be it acting or singing, although, performing her own music, is where her passion lies and she is now currently preparing to perform in venues around her hometown.
"My voice has been compared to a young Natalie Imbruglia and even Madonna so if you like their sort of music, you'll be sure to love Under the Covers,"
