Description
Mark Schuster hails from the great city of Chicago - the crossroads of soulful blues and intense hard rock music. One listen to his music and there's no doubt a little of that has rubbed off.
A 20+yr veteran of the guitar, Mark started his humble beginnings playing piano and drums. Playing in countless bands over the years, Mark draws on these varied experiences to create music that is rhythmic, melodic and passionate. Although drums will always be near and dear to Marks heart, somewhere in the early 80s he discovered the guitar and the rest is history. Mark was heavily influenced by hard rock/metal bands of the 1980s and his music to date reflects that, although originality is important to him. Some comment anything with a hint of that era is dated, while others reminisce about better times when guitar playing was taken seriously.
In the 90s Mark took nearly ten years off from writing and playing out before realizing how important it was to him. In 2000 he started writing and recording again and published in excess of 20 demos online for the world to hear.
Although an instrumental guitarist, Mark does not belong to the million-note club where the composition as a whole takes a back seat to hey mom, look how fast I can play. He approaches writing music with the whole song in mind and does not believe in boring listeners with countless scales and excessive arpeggios. Music should move the listener and some of the greatest slingers to date have learned theres a time and place for everything, even 32 million note extravaganzas. Mark combines his infused sense of rhythm, from playing the drums, with his melodic nature to write guitar parts that are hard driving and intense.
Marks debut CD release Monster Me is a collection of 10 Instrumental Hard Rock/Metal songs where Mark not only penned all ten songs, but recorded, produced and played ALL the instruments.
