Description

funkysmooth is just what the name implies; music that can be both soothing in a background or ambient mode, but vibrant and rewarding when given an active listen. This is no repetitive "four-bar drum machine pattern and endless solo" type of record that many associate with "smooth jazz," yet neither is it full of incendiary be-bop craziness or arrangements of tired old standards. It is fresh, sophisticated, and hip, yet never pretentious or obscure.

Michael Allen Whipple is a multi-instrumentalist/producer living in Southern Oregon, by way of Southern California. He is also a founding member of the world/acoustic band Chasm, (also available on CDBaby), and a lifetime Los Angeles Lakers fan, through good years and bad. He plays all members of the flute family, keyboards, congas and percussion, both acoustic and electronic, and has been working in the world of computer-assisted recording since the dawn of MIDI.
